First Look: Roa's Aviary at Aquatic at SeaWorld Texas

This weekend, SeaWorld and Aquatica’s newest animal interaction opens! Roa’s Aviary is home to 100 exotic birds (soon to be 300 as more birds are slowly added in to the aviary). Right now you can stroll through the aviary, wade in from the new zero entry beach, or float through on Loggerhead Lane.

San Antonio Mom Blogs has your first look at this unique way of meeting and learning about birds from SeaWorld San Antonio:

No, that sweet Roseate Spoonbill isn’t sitting on my head, but it sure looks like it, doesn’t it? I did let a blue macaw named Chumley roost on my arm for a bit.

As the other birds become accustomed to their new home, you may be able to let them perch upon you too! Right now you can use SeaWorld’s handy bird guide to do a little bird watching as you and your kids identify which birds you see. Eventually you’ll be able to hand feed the birds too!

Your kids are going to ADORE this new addition to the already lovely Aquatica water park at SeaWorld San Antonio.

  7. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING THE HYACINTH MACAW. THEY ARE CALLED “GENTLE GIANTS” AND ARE THE LARGEST PARROT SPECIES.

    • That would be Chumley. He used to be our Hyacinth Macaw. We donated him to Sea World so everyone can have an opportunity to experience these Gentle Giants and bring awareness to the destruction of their natural habitat. Chumley was not “wild caught” He was a member of our family for 18 years.
