Bravo! An evening of song and dance honors the flavor and passion of San Antonio and its cultural roots in Mexico with the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department’s Fandango and Alamotion Dance Troupes. Folkloric, jazz, hip hop, and Latin style dances will be featured. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

Saturday, July 4, Phil Hardberger Park West (Urban Ecology Center), 8400 N.W. Military Highway, 78231, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Not So Creepy Critters program. Erik and Courtney Honer bring their awesome critters to you this 4th of July, including their blue-tongued skink, a kid-friendly snake, and their bearded dragon lizard. Craft included for kids. Free to attend but a suggested donation of $3 per person or $5 per family is welcomed.

Saturday, July 4, Home Depot locations around San Antonio, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
FREE, once-a-month workshops for kids, ages 5 – 12 at participating Home Depot stores. This week, your child will learn to build a Minions scooter. Kids’ workshops are on a first come/first served basis. Register your child online ahead of time to make sure there is room available.

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. *and* 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Free admission to the San Antonio Museum of Art for everyone (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
AND
First Sundays for Families: (12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) free for kids 12 and under and kids 13+ and adults are $10 each. This month is: Farewell, Jamie Wyeth, “Enjoy an afternoon of family fun with music, a film, an art scavenger hunt, and art activities. There’s something for everyone at this family celebration on the last day of the exhibition of American realist Jamie Wyeth.”

The McNay’s Second Thursday of the month provides free museum admission and docent-led tours. Food truck are on site and you can enjoy live music and more.

The Balcones Heights Jazz Festival provides free concerts open to the public each July. Tonight’s line up includes Groove Therapy at 7:30 p.m. and Slim Man at 9:00 p.m. Seating on the amphitheater lawn is first-come, first-served so arrive early for a prime spot. Food and beverages are for sale from booths onsite and in the food court of Wonderland of the Americas.

Malt, Hops, and Moths is a free, family-friendly event, celebrating National Moth Week. Kids and adults can take moth selfies, record data of observed species (drawn to the event by a mercury vapor lamp and black light moth magnets), check out moth host plants and caterpillars, enjoy edible insect snacks, watch a slide show, and more. Alamo Beer will serve, “a special edition Sphinx Moth Amber Ale at the event in honor of National Moth Week’s featured moth this year, members of the Sphingidae family–hawk and sphinx moths.”

Free Shining Star Energy Youth Football Clinic. For kids, ages 5 – 14, this free football clinic brings together more than 30 coaches from area colleges to lead 500+ participants in a football and sportsmanship clinic. Free concussion testing will also be available for high school students.
