With the nice weather we’ve been having and the school year rapidly coming to a close, it’s time to get out and enjoy a month full of fun (and free!) events across San Antonio! Take a look at this awesome list!

San Antonio | The Saga. This free video art installation, created by Xavier De Richemont, plays three times a night, weather permitting, on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays on the facade of San Fernando Cathedral.

The San Antonio League of Sidewalk Astronomers (SALSA) offers free stargazing to the public every Wednesday evening beginning at sunset.

Every First Friday we bring the Hemisfair Art Market to the park, plus music, food and fun activities to keep your whole family moving!

FREE, once-a-month workshops for kids, ages 5 – 12 at participating Home Depot stores. This week, your child will build a Tic Tac Toe Game. Kids’ workshops are on a first come/first served basis. Register your child online ahead of time to make sure there is room available.

First Saturday at The Alamo! On the first Saturday of every month, the grounds of the Alamo are transformed back in time to the 1830s. Join us for a full day of living history fun that the whole family will enjoy. Learn about life in frontier Texas with special demonstrations and crafts.

Join us for Super Fun First Saturdays! This month we’re hosting Sandcastle Saturday. Hop into the sand play area to create your very own castle right here in Yanaguana Garden. A local sculptor will be building a truly unique castle and giving pointers to our littlest engineers. We’ll have supplies on hand, but feel free to bring your own if you like!

Join Slab Cinema for Movies by Moonlight. The movie is The Band of Misfit Pirates. Get there early for a good spot. The movie will start at dusk. The Pirate Pool Party will be lots of fun! Climb aboard the pirate ship hayride for an adventure on the high seas and come dressed in costume for our Best-Dressed Pirate Costume Contest. Have your picture taken with the Pirate mascot from Park University. Free kids activities throughout the evening and concessions available for purchase. Please keep in mind, due to pool occupancy regulations, there will be a limit of 150 people in the pool at one time.

Join park rangers and the San Antonio League of Sidewalk Astronomers for a Star Party. Fun for families of all ages! During inclement weather, be sure to check the calendar as this program may be cancelled (check Facebook). Kid’s activities will be provided and the San Antonio League of Sidewalk Astronomers (SALSA) will provide their expertise while assisting participants in using SALSA’s telescopes to enjoy the night sky. Additional telescopes are welcome! Participants should bring a flashlight (red cellophane will be provided), snacks, chairs and dress for the weather. The event is weather permitting.

Join HPB in store as they kick off the FEED YOUR BRAIN® Summer Reading Program. Kids of all ages are invited for the Biggest Storytime of the Summer, as we celebrate reading and family literacy with this nationwide read-in event.

Free admission to The DoSeum on the first and third Tuesday of every month! Only the first 1,200 guests will be admitted so arrive early. Parking is free but limited – another good reason to be there early. Remember: no outside food allowed and umbrella strollers only inside the museum. The cafe will be open with food and drinks for sale.

Dinosaur George is back, and brings his renowned dinosaur program to Eisenhower Park! Learn to grow your own plants for food and fun with Gardopia Gardens! Gardening is a great way to get outdoors and provide healthy food for your family. This month’s topic is seedlings and transplants.

Saturday, June 10: Caliente Hot Glass Studio, 1411 North Hackberry, 78208, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Caliente’s Illuminate the Dark event includes four hours of live glass blowing demonstrations by multiple artists with a special performance at 9 pm, unlike anything the public has ever had access to before. This demonstration will take place in the dark, lit only by fire and molten glass. The glass pieces created during this time will all be donated to raise money for this non-profit organization that has been empowering the blind and visually impaired of San Antonio since 1933. Kid-friendly, free and open to the public. Refreshments and new art pieces available for purchase.

Join Slab Cinema in Helotes for Movie Night. The movie is Secret Life of Pets. The fun begins at 6:00 p.m. on the grounds behind City Hall. The band concert begins at 7:00 p.m. The featured movie starts at sunset. This free family event includes a concert from the Helotes Area Community Band, bouncy slide, food vendors, raffle prizes, and Looney Toons before the featured movie. Families are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets, suntan lotion, bug spray, and a flash light. Outside food and drinks are permitted.

EgCollaborations presents San Antonio’s Frozen Treats Fest at Alamo Beer Co.! Come out to this FREE event to enjoy all of San Antonio’s best frozen treats! IT’S A DAY OF SUMMER FUN! Try and buy paletas, ice cream, milkshakes, snow cones, sundaes, mangonadas, and more from dozens of San Antonio’s favorite vendors. Play all day on water slides and bouncy courses. Listen to great music. Food will be available from a few of our favorite food trucks. Ice cold beer available from Alamo Beer!

Traders Village presents it’s 7th Annual Dia de los Daddys Car Show and Swap Meet. Enjoy fun foods like hot dogs, chips, and 12 oz. sodas for only one dollar each, while supplies last. Come and enjoy this fun family event. Kids can enjoy the great rides all day. Parking is $4.

Come out to the beer hall for Father Fest 2017, a day dedicated to dads! The event is free & benefits Pints for Prostates, and the fight to find a cure. The Urology Place will be offering free onsite PSA testing & there will be a silent auction with all proceeds going to #PintsForProstates. Bring the kids – our beer hall & garden is always a family-friendly place. Free Tuesday Nights at the Briscoe Western Art Museum! Everyone gets in free on Tuesday nights from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to enjoy special programs, music, and more. And, remember: during all other open days/times, the Briscoe offers free admission, year-round, to children 12 and under and to all active military and their families (up to 4 people).

Tuesday, June 20: The DoSeum, 2800 Broadway, 78209, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Free admission to The DoSeum on the first and third Tuesday of every month! Only the first 1,200 guests will be admitted so arrive early. Parking is free but limited – another good reason to be there early. Remember: no outside food allowed and umbrella strollers only inside the museum. The cafe will be open with food and drinks for sale.
