Saturday, July 2: Home Depot locations around San Antonio, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
FREE, once-a-month workshops for kids, ages 5 – 12 at participating Home Depot stores. This week, your child will build an Ice Age Bowling Game. Kids’ workshops are on a first come/first served basis. Register your child online ahead of time to make sure there is room available.

Saturday, July 2: The Alamo, 300 Alamo Plaza, San Antonio, Texas 78205, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
First Saturday at The Alamo! On the first Saturday of every month, the grounds of the Alamo are transformed back in time to the 1830s. Visit for a full day of living history fun that the whole family will enjoy. Learn about life in frontier Texas with special demonstrations and crafts.

Tom Kinsey brings his myriad of live animals including hissing cockroaches, a green tree frog, white wing dove, corn snake and the very cute Norway rats. This family oriented program, Critters as Pets, is very popular and space is limited. A kid-friendly craft is included. Free and no registration is required but a donation of $3/ person OR $5/ family is suggested.

Guardian House is offering free family focus groups with to those experiencing divorce, separation, or significant changes in the family. It’s a 5 week program (beginning July 6 & 7) that meets once a week for 1 hour. Each session provides information, discussion, creative activities, refreshments, & the opportunity to connect with others going through similar situations. Adults group on Wednesdays. Teens and kids group on Thursdays. Sessions are free but sign up is necessary for enrollment as space is limited.

Wednesday & Thursday, July 6 & 7: Arneson River Theatre, La Villita Historic Arts Village, 418 Villita St., 78205, 8:00 p.m.
Enjoy ¡BRAVO! – a drama of traditional folkloric numbers, passionate vocals, outstanding live music and high energy contemporary dance routines. General admission is free, however, donations are always appreciated. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. performance.  Proceeds from donations benefit the youth participating in the Parks and Recreation Department cultural programs. Inclement weather can lead to cancellation of shows.

Friday, July 8: Amphitheater at the Wonderland of the Americas, 4522 Fredericksburg Rd., 78201, concerts at 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The Heights Jazz Festival has been captivating South Texas jazz fans for over 22 years. Enjoy this free concert series on the amphitheater lawn on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs. Food and beverages are available for purchase at a variety of booths, as well as the adjacent Food Court inside Wonderland of the Americas. Tonight’s entertainment: Dean James and Tom Browne.

Thomas Paine, Nature Preserve Officer at Medina River Natural Area, will present the Leave No Trace principles with hands-on activities. This is a great program for all scout organizations and outdoor enthusiasts! The program is limited to 30 children. A donation of $3 per individual or $5 per family is suggested.

Michelle Camara leads Insect Investigators, an exploration into the world of these six-legged creatures, and their role in the ecosystem. Learn about dragonflies, praying mantises, bees, assassin bugs, spiders and many more! Live critters and specimens to observe and examine. The McNay Art Museum will host a vintage family escape right in the middle of San Antonio!
