radKIDS: teaching kids to resist aggression defensively in San Antonio

radKIDS program by ChildSafe in San Antonio: teaching kids to resist aggression defensively Over the last two years, while supporting Cardboard Kids, I’ve learned so much about ChildSafe: child advocacy in San Antonio and the essential programs they provide to San Antonio families.

As the only Children’s Advocacy Center in Bexar County, we restore hope and healing through expert treatment to children and their families who have been traumatized by abuse.”
– ChildSafe

When I first heard about their radKIDS program, I couldn’t wait to sign my kids up. Talking to our children about personal safety, especially regarding physical and sexual abuse, isn’t always easy. But this special camp for kids, ages 8 – 12, tackles these tough topics at an age-appropriate level while also teaching kids the skills they need to Resist Aggression Defensively (RAD). The 10-hour program, held over two half days in downtown San Antonio, empowers kids with confidence and safety skills so they can instinctively replace fear, confusion, and panic in dangerous situations.

Over the years, more than 250,000 children have been trained in the radKIDS® Personal Empowerment Safety Education Program across the country. Certified radKIDS instructors teach the San Antonio ChildSafe session.

Along with their kids, parents actively participate in the program which includes lectures, safety drills, muscle memory exercises, and dynamic simulation. View the radKIDS agenda here.
