Whew! Fiesta is over but now the heat is on. Seriously. It was 99 yesterday! I’d love to say, “Spring is in the air!” but it feels more like August just plopped it’s steamy self down for a spell. Still, we are in the swing of the season of flowers and rain showers (Please, come on, rain showers!) and San Antonio mom bloggers are busy with spring cleaning as well as digging into seasonal gardens. Let’s check out just a few of the helpful, creative, and inspiring posts that were linked up here last week:

The gals at Handmade Mood managed to make cleaning look like a beautiful (and healthy) pastime. Their post on creating your own sweet smelling kitchen cleaner with essential oils and their handy printable cleaning list will move your usually dreaded chore to the top of your To Do list.

Inga, with San Antonio Charter Moms, introduced us to San Antonio City Councilman Rey Saldaña, who just joined the KIPP San Antonio charter school team as their Chief Engagement Office. She weaves a lovely story around her meeting with Saldaña (I felt as though I was sitting right there with them, enjoying their conversation). Saldaña’s work with KIPP includes a strategy for fighting poverty and food insecurity in his district by arming his constituents with rich educational opportunities.

If you’re looking for a bright, colorful preschool book with an artful message, Veronica recommended Art Dog. Her four-year-old can’t put it down and that’s just about the best recommendation a parent can get.

Thinking about starting a garden? Kelli showed us how easy it can be to get a backyard organic garden up and growing. Even her 15-year-old’s in awe of her mad veggie skills.

And Caden gave us a gorgeous glimpse inside the historic Menger Hotel in Alamo Plaza, complete with a review of their reasonably-priced, elegant brunch.

Now it’s time for this week’s San Antonio Mom Blogs’ Link Up. What are you blogging about? Share your posts here all week long!
