Last year I wrote about the wonderful experience my daughter and I had attending free, month-long Saturday Morning Discovery art experiences at the Southwest School of Art. These two-hour art sessions, for kids ages 5-17, give San Antonio children the opportunity to experiment with many different kinds of art techniques and media, each Saturday for a month.
In addition to painting with watercolors, creating origami, discovering paper art techniques, working with ceramics, learning pinhole photography, making stained glass, and designing pieces with found art objects, Delaney and I also learned how to weave a belt and how to design and silk-screen a T-shirt. We always looked forward to our Saturday morning art time together, learning something new and getting to be creative together.
Registration is now open and spots fill very quickly so click through to select your preferred month and reserve a spot for your kids right away.
Delaney and I can’t wait to go back and this time, we’re taking Waylon with us!
I’ve got lots of tips for attending these classes and more detail about the types of art and techniques your kids will get to experience on my post, Free art classes for kids at the Southwest School of Art.
