Round up: posts by San Antonio mom bloggers, Dec. 6, 2013

Some of the best posts linked up on San Antonio mom blogs, December 6, 2013

Thanks to the San Antonio mom bloggers who link up their posts here each week! Every other Friday, San Antonio Mom Blogs features five of some of the bests posts from the link ups.

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, it can be costly (and difficult) finding a babysitter for date nights. Kelly, at Happy Accidents Happen, put together a helpful list of low-cost, reputable options for child care so we can all enjoy a Parents’ Night Out once in a while. Bookmark this post, y’all!

This was one of the coolest things I read this week: Melissa, with Lone Star Signers, wrote about how she and her daughter used ASL (American Sign Language) to talk to each other during a performance of The Nutcracker. She was able to answer her young daughter’s questions during the ballet without disturbing anyone sitting around them (unlike the rude people who sat behind them…I’ll let her tell the story!).

We’re already several days into Advent but, if you’re a little behind like me and can’t understand how it is already December 6 (!!!), you’ll appreciate (and get lots of use from) Lori’s list of San Antonio Advent calendar events and activities. She even includes a free printable!

Our friend and fellow blogger Faith went back to work this week after a 14-week maternity leave. In her beautifully written post, she shares the emotions she’s experiencing (and those she didn’t expect to feel but does) as she prepares to become a working mom for the first time.

And, as you’re shopping and making and baking gifts for family and friends over the next few weeks, you’ll want to take a look at the easy, pretty snack Rachel’s whipping up at The Late Farmer. These could be the perfect gift for teachers!

  1. I love the posts this week! I adored Melissa’s post!!! I have two DVDS that I my son watches in his bouncer: a Spanish Kids DVD and Baby Signing Times! We have waving and clapping down, and I honestly believe he signs “dog” and “more” [sometimes].

  2. Thanks for all the tips. I’ll definite;y be checking out the sitter options!

  3. Thanks for including me, Colleen! I never would have guessed when we started signing with her all those years ago that it would still come in handy. We had a GREAT time at the Nutcracker!

  4. Coleen, thanks for including me in your post this week! We actually used the “Kids” night out tonight at our church to go to dinner and do a little shopping. The kids made Christmas crafts and even won some cool prizes! Each kid went home with a goodie bag and I honestly don’t think either one of them noticed (or cared) that we were gone for a few hours!

  5. We signed with Baby Gray when he was younger. I wish we had kept it up!
