Start gearing up for summer camp!

This post is written and sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas. Thank you for supporting the organizations and brands that support San Antonio Mom Blogs!

It feels like we just wrapped up spring break but it’s time to start making summer plans! Whether your daughter wants to be the next Ruth Wakefield, inventor of the chocolate chip cookie, or if archery is more her style, we have a camp for her. And there’s no better way to pick the perfect camp session than by taking advantage of our Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas open house sessions.

Camp open houses are the perfect opportunity to view camp before summer, visit with camp staff, and have all your questions answered. At open house you can watch activities in action, try your hand at crafts, and tour camp locations. Don’t miss this opportunity to see everything Girl Scout camp has to offer. And there will be other campers so your daughter might even make a new friend before camp starts.

At open house, meet some of our amazing staff, try a sample of activities, and check out our facilities for free. Drop in when you can as open houses are come-and-go events.

What better way to plan a fun and stress-free summer and see what Camp Metro in San Antonio and Camp La Jita in Utopia, have to offer, than with a preview of camp activities and asking questions of the camp staff. And, don’t forget to register while you’re there!

Remember if you’re headed to Camp La Jita Open House, exploring camp means walking so please wear comfortable closed-toed shoes, casual clothing and a hat. And don’t forget a water bottle.

Most importantly, don’t forget that Girl Scouts is girl led, so make sure to include your daughter in the decision making progress. Bring her with you to open house, let her flip through our camp guide, and ask every question she can think of.

Don’t know what to ask while at open house? Here are a few questions to get you started.

  • What does a typical day look like for a camper?
  • What kind of outdoor components are included in Camp Metro?
  • How do you help girls handle home sickness?

Then join us for:
