Rodeo season is here! The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is saddling up for a full 18 days of action-packed family fun. From February 9th – 26th, bring your kiddos out to the grounds to experience all kinds of fun, educational and interactive activities! Here are a few things you will be able to experience at the Rodeo.

Top 10 kid-friendly attractions at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo

Little Buckaroo Farms- Presented by H-E-B

Little Buckaroo Farms is truly a Texas family experience! Exhibits offer visitors of all ages a chance to see the agricultural origins of the food and fiber needed for daily living. This family-friendly attraction shows agricultural production from farm and ranch to kitchen table. Displays and activities inside include a live beehive and honeybee information center, Bexar County Master Gardener’s booth, a chance to try your hand at goat milking and an opportunity to take your picture with farm animals!

Animal Adventures- Presented by Texas Farm Bureau

Gain a better understanding of the relationship between the everyday use of animal products and the importance of agriculture at Animal Adventures. The exhibit is open daily with various activities involving audience participation that kids will love! The various stages of animal production, the colorful history of the industries, product displays, demonstrations, interactive videos and feed samples are some of the educational tidbits provided. Take time to view wool and mohair displays, hatching of baby chicks and other interesting activities. You don’t want to miss seeing all of the live animals as well!

Horse Discovery- Presented by Wells Fargo

Want to learn more about horses and the sport of Rodeo? If so, Horse Discovery is the place to be to see displays of horses, their uses and their role in today’s world. Also featured in the exhibit is the Rodeo Experience that provides an up-close exploration of Rodeo events including interactive and hands-on exhibits including teaching young cowboys and cowgirls how to rope. Expert clinics and demonstrations present fun and informative insights into horse training methods, riding types, horse care and ways to enjoy time spent with horses. You and your kiddos are going to want to saddle up after visiting this exhibit!

Petting Zoo- Presented by Honey Nut Cheerios

From baby goats and chickens, to cuddly sheep and other farm animals, you and your children will enjoy these playful and friendly animals. The Great American Animal Entertainment staff will be onsite to answer questions and help you feed their little friends. The Petting Zoo is open daily during the Rodeo.

Swifty Swine Pig Races

If you have never been to a pig race, you are missing out! A fast-paced, action-packed show that is visually exciting and keeps kiddos on their toes as the competing pigs race to the finish line. Audience members old and young are guaranteed to go “hog wild” as “Swifty” the pig shows off his swimming and diving skills.

There is also an educational segment incorporated into the show called “P.U. Piggie University,” which provides informative facts about pigs and their importance to medical science. There are five shows daily during the rodeo.

Innovation Station

Innovation Station is a fun-filled, interactive attraction that has been developed specifically for fairs, festivals, amusement parks, community events and similar venues. Innovation Station features hands-on, immersive experiences that takes children on an epic journey through the worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.

Zoomagination

“Where the wild kingdom meets your imagination.” Zoomagination is an educational and entertaining live animal program for all ages. This exhibit will focus on the interaction of animals, humans, and the environment while featuring macaws, warthogs, two toed sloths and much more. Kids will love to see these exotic animals!

Agricadabra

Agricadabra is an agriculture based magic show that entertains and educates children of all ages. Brad Matchett’s show, located inside Buckaroo Farms, will teach about the importance of agriculture in Texas. Expect a few tricks, some singing, a little dancing and even an appearance from his magic rabbit, Houdini!

Kids Pedal Tractor Pull

Put the pedal to the metal with the infamous Kids Pedal Tractor Pull. A new fast-paced interactive show for children 4 to 12 years old to put their abilities to the test on a modified pedal tractor. The further they pedal, the harder it gets! Kids will love cheering on their fellow contestants as they push it to the limit!

Sandy Feet

Needing an escape to the beach? Let Lucinda Wierenga and her team take you there! New to the Texas Wildlife Expo, Wierenga and her team of builders will create four 10’X20’X10’ sand sculptures as well as lead sand castle workshops. Throughout the show participants will learn about the coastal region of Texas and may get the chance to build a sand castle in one of the two daily workshops.
