Take a trolley around downtown San Antonio for free! Take the E, a free trolley that stops at one of 17 stops every ten minutes on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.

Get fit for free! Check out these free fitness events held all over San Antonio from the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department.

The San Antonio League of Sidewalk Astronomers (SALSA) offers free stargazing to the public every Wednesday evening beginning at sunset.

Story Time Stampede is offered at the Briscoe Western Art Museum every Saturday from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m in the Kampmann Library Portal (on-site at the Briscoe Museum). Children 12 and under, and active duty military with ID receive FREE admission. Adults are $10 each. Seniors (65+), Students (with valid ID), and Retired Military are $8 each.

Wednesday, April 1, San Antonio Botanical Garden, 555 Funston Place, 78209, 6:30 p.m.
Chipotle Sustainable Film Series: Outdoor films at the Garden. Come to the San Antonio Botanical Garden for a free film and burrito, thanks to Chipotle! See the documentary, Growing Cities. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with a panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. and the movie at 8:00 p.m. RSVP to info@sabot.org to reserve your space and be sure to bring your own seating.

Saturday, April 4, Phil Hardberger Park East, 13203 Blanco Rd. (PHP East-Salado Classroom), 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Youth Vegetable Garden: families with elementary-aged kids will enjoy this free program with hands-on gardening activities. Each participant receives a free plant. Free to attend but a suggested donation of $3 per person or $5 per family is welcomed.

Saturday, April 4, Home Depot locations around San Antonio, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
FREE, once-a-month workshops for kids, ages 5 – 12 at participating Home Depot stores. This week, your child learns to build a chalkboard planter stand. Kids’ workshops are on a first come/first served basis. Register your child online ahead of time to make sure there is room available.

Spring Scavenger Hunt at Landa Library Park. This free, family-friendly event is brought to you by Landa Gardens Conservancy & Girl Scout Troop 523. Have a fun spring day learning about the plants and trees surrounding Landa Library. Play in the park, discover fun architectural facts about the former home of Hannah and Harry Landa, and hang out in the library that exists there now.

Your Best Path to Health, a FREE medical, dental, and eyecare clinic, runs April 8 – 10 at the Alamodome in downtown San Antonio. Medical volunteers provide free onsite services including medical exams, X-rays, pediatrics, immunizations, general surgery, total dental including crowns and fillings, total vision care including exams and free eyeglasses, pharmacy services, hair cuts, chaplaincy services, childcare for patients, a free meal and more! Service is given on a first come first served basis. No insurance or identification is required. More information is found at YourBestPathwayToHealth.org or by calling 1 (888) 44-Pathway. Those interested in free general surgery are asked to call as soon as possible to schedule the procedure.

The McNay’s Second Thursday of the month provides free museum admission and docent-led tours. Food truck are on site and you can enjoy live music and more.

FREE admission today to the Poteet Strawberry Festival for everyone, courtesy of KENS 5! Onsite parking is also free. Enjoy fresh strawberry treats, carnival rides, and live music at this annual favorite. Please note: this event will be held rain or shine.

Enjoy a free performance in Main Plaza by the 53+ person Pineville High School Band from Louisiana.

Saturday, April 11, Acequia Park, 8500 Mission Pkwy., 78223, 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
2015 Mission Reach Float Fest! This inaugural free event on the Mission Reach section of the San Antonio River is sure to become a family favorite. The public is encouraged to decorate their kayaks, canoes or paddle boards, wear a costume, or wear a fun and festive hat and paddle a one (1) mile portion of the Mission Reach paddling trail where guest judges will look at all the entries (be sure to register here by April 3 if you plan to decorate and float!). In addition to viewing the watercraft decorating competition, the public will be invited to enjoy other festivities from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. that include music, outdoor and educational activities, mobile food truck vendors, and more. Available parking for the public will be off Mission Parkway Rd. down from Mission San Juan Capistrano and Mission Parkway Rd. down from Espada Park.

Butterflies and Beetles: Butterfly Lady Joanne Wells discusses butterflies found in the park and as well as what their favorite plants are. Bug Man Dan Sunburg displays his large beetle collection. Kid-friendly activity include. Free to attend but a $3 per person or $5 per family donation is welcomed.

Kids’ Day in the Park moves to Camargo Park to celebrate the Week of the Young Child. Free educational activities, family fun, and a visit by Daniel Tiger makes this the perfect event for little ones. The event is sponsored by the San Antonio Association for the Education of Young Children (SAAEYC), KLRN Public Television, and the City of San Antonio, Department of Human Services.

The San Antonio Book Festival is completely FREE to attend and open to the public! Enjoy author readings, innovative panel discussions, recipe demonstrations, and book sales and signings. Also included in this fun day for the family are children’s activities, musical entertainment, a technology tent, and a selection of the city’s famous food trucks.
