Story Time Stampede is offered at the Briscoe Western Art Museum every Saturday from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m in the Kampmann Library Portal (on-site at the Briscoe Museum). Children 12 and under, and active duty military with ID receive FREE admission. Adults are $10 each. Seniors (65+), Students (with valid ID), and Retired Military are $8 each.

FREE LEGO® Store Monthly Mini Model Build! This month: LEGO® Robot. On the first Tuesday of each month, LEGO Stores provide a limited quantity of free mini model sets for kids ages 6-14. One free per child while supplies last. Get there early (around 3:00 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.) for your spot in line!

Saturday, March 7, Phil Hardberger Park West, Urban Ecology Center Gathering Hall., 8400 NW Military Hwy., 78231, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Dinosaur George brings his entertaining, educational presentation to Hardberger Park for all ages to enjoy. See replicas of dinosaur skulls, and those of giant killer birds and big Texas mammals. Ends with a craft. FREE to attend, with a suggested donation of $5 per family or $3 per individual.

Saturday, March 7, Home Depot locations around San Antonio, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
FREE, weekly workshops for kids, ages 5 – 12 at participating Home Depot stores. This week, your child learns to build a book ends with either sports of flower stickers. Kids’ workshops are on a first come/first served basis. Register your child online ahead of time to make sure there is room available.

Saturday, March 7, Mission Park Pavilion, 6030 Padre, 78214, 9:00  a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The San Antonio River Authority (SARA), National Park Service, and Bexar County invites you and your family to the free event, Get Outdoors! at Mission Park Pavilion. This free festival includes ways you and your family can enjoy outdoor recreational activities in San Antonio. Exhibits, hands-on activities, giveaways, presentations, and demonstrations will all be included to connect you to the local organizations and businesses who’ll help your family have a great time outdoors in San Antonio.

Lost in Wonderland. Costumed characters stroll throughout this event and fun photo booths with everything from Beetlejuice to Dr. Who with entice you to take a picture. Vendors will offer: clothing, collectibles, toys, comics, gifts, jewelry, accessories, handmade, home décor, gifts, candles, pottery and more. Free admission.

Folk Dance Performances. Enjoy performances at the San Antonio Folk Dance Festival at Arneson Theatre.

FREE 2015 Alamo Regional Event. Celebrating its Fifth Anniversary, the Alamo Regional Event is the biggest FIRST regional event in the United States with more than 3,500 students participating under one roof. This three-day competition has different divisions competing. FLL is LEGO (mainly elementary kids), FTC is the tech competition (middle and high school), and FRC, the robotics competition, is made up of only highschool participants. The public is invited to watch all competitions and events FREE of charge. And, the Geekbus will be there!

Saturday, March 14, McAllister Park (near the Wurzbach Parkway Entrance), 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The FREE 9th Annual ‘Fest of Tails’ Kite Festival & Dog Fair, a San Antonio family (and dog!) favorite event, includes a sky full of kites, dogs of all sizes and breeds, live music, food, arts and crafts, and more. Bring your blanket or lawn chair to watch the gorgeous air show with stunt kite flyers and you can also participate in a community flying exhibition. And bring your dog in costume for the Pooch Parade.

Saturday, March 14, 15890 State Highway 16, San Antonio (meet in the MRNA Pavilion), 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
The Trail Mix: Trail Safety for Families. Meet up at the Medina River Natural Area to explore part of the Howard Peak Greenway Trail. This program, presented by the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department, features a short hike along with trail safety information and fun activities. Free and no registration needed but a donation of $3 per individual or $5 a family is suggested.

Free Family Art Day takes place at Inspire Art every second Saturday of the month. All ages are welcome.

Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15, Arneson River Theatre, 418 Villita St, 78205, 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. both days
St. Patrick’s Day River Parade and Festival. River parade starts at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The San Antonio River turns an enviromentally green shade and transforms, temporarily, into The River Shannon. Live  music, a family-friendly festival, food, games, activities, and more will bring the Luck O’ the Irish to you and your family.

Indian music, dance, food, and more are on display at the Festival of India. A cultural presentation begins at 3:00 p.m. Free admission.

Attend the very last HEB Free Family Night at the San Antonio Children’s Museum at its downtown location before it moves north up Broadway and becomes The DoSeum! This free event fills up quickly, so arrive early. Take advantage of San Antonio’s free parking in city garages downtown on Tuesday evenings after 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, March 21, Phil Hardberger Park East, 13203 Blanco Rd. (PHP East-Salado Classroom), 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Myths About Mexican Free Tail Bats. Learn the myths about bats and why it’s important for us to protect them. We’ll also talk about the way bats communicate as well as what their diets consist of. This event wraps up with a kid-friendly craft. No registration needed and this event is free to attend but a $3 donation per individual or $5 donation per family is suggested.

Boerne’s Outdoor Family Fair. Enjoy entertainment while learning about local services and organizations in the Boerne community.

Don’t miss this FREE event that’s perfect for San Antonio families! Join Crib & Kids and San Antonio Bloggers for a Cardboard Kid decorating party (and a bounce house and other free, kid-friendly activities). Cardboard Kids are 2-foot tall cardboard figures shaped like children that represent one of the thousands of children that are abused and neglected at the hands of adults in our community each year. We decorate them now and, on April 9, we’ll leave them in spots around town to spread the word that child abuse happens everywhere and ChildSafe is available to help those kids. Please join ‪#‎SATXBloggers‬ and Crib and Kids for a fun, FREE, family day to decorate and take home your Cardboard Kid!

Saturday, March 28, Labor Street Park, 436 Labor Street, 78210, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Coca Cola presents a FREE Family Field Day to celebrate new outdoor fitness equipment, a revitalized basketball court and refurbished kickball field at Labor Street Park. A new kickball league and RoTenGo, through a partnership with the United States Road Tennis Association (USTRA), will also be available for community members this spring. This interactive, free event will be full of field day challenges, Zumba, RoTenGo, games, music, dancing and more for your whole family to enjoy. The Mobile Fit San Antonio unit will also be on hand to provide free health screenings, such as blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI).

Spring Fever Festival at the Herff Farm. Hosted by Inspiration Garden volunteers at the Herff Farm in Boerne, this free festival provides workshops covering gardening basics, from garden preparation to irrigation, fertilization, native and drought tolerant plants, permaculture, vermaculture, backyard chickens and more.

Amor y Arte. Stroll through Travis Park on this lovely spring evening and afternoon and shop locally created handmade goods, artwork, and locally grown foods. There will also be pet adoptions, food trucks, live music, and a DJ.

Saturday, March 28, Branch River Park in Goliad, 445 S. Commercial Street, Goliad, TX, 77963, 7:15 p.m.
FREE River Flicks outdoor movie: Yogi Bear. Bring the kids for a FREE Leave No Trace educational activity at 7:15 p.m. before the movie (which starts at 8:00 p.m.) and don’t forget to bring your blankets and chairs!

Sunday, March 29, at the intersection of South St. Mary’s Street and S Alamo, traveling south along St. Mary’s and Roosevelt, then west on Steves Avenue, and south onto Mission Road to Mission Concepción (for a total of about 2.7 miles)
Síclovía, a free festival celebrating exercise, walking, biking, and more begins at 11:00 a.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m. A nearly three-mile stretch of downtown city streets will be closed off to car traffic so attendees can walk, run, or bike up and down this stretch of San Antonio. Food booths, educational and information booths, exercise demonstrations and more fill out the day with San Antonians getting out to enjoy the fresh air and exercise together.
